So there's that if it's the MH HQ that's pending sale. This group has, from the look of things, handled quite a bit of Mars Hill real estate history.

Again, what's the point of this post? Other churches sell property all the time, and like you've said, it's no surprise they've wanted to relocate the central offices to Bellevue for a while now...so why bother posting at all?

I've appreciated a lot of what you've post the last year or so, but now it seems like you're turning increasingly bitter, frustrated and almost hoping that any and everything you find Mars Hill/Driscoll related turns into a scandal or big deal.

It's a point of note.

MH bought that property with the stated plan of turning it into another campus. Large vision was cast from the pulpit, a plan was laid out, funds above regularly tithing may have been requested (I dont recall).

Unfortunately, they didn't do enough research to know that it wasn't zoned for their intended purpose. It's not even a great space for its current office purposes since it was previously a large vehicle repair shop, complete with massive pit in middle of the concrete floor. It is a very strange space. :)

Additionally, this means many of the staff who have been working there for a long time now have to make the long and potentially expensive commute to Bellevue.

(It's a 1-2 hr commute each day, plus tolls if you use the bridge)

But again, why is it something of note? People buy property all the time and change their minds about what to use it for, and people have to commute way longer than an hour or 2 for work, so again, I don't see why this is an issue at all and it makes me think the author of the blog WANTS Driscoll to fail, and is trying to post anything that might make ANY noise. It's kinda getting sad.

What function does any of this blog serve? Historical revision is so rampant at MHC that this is the only place you can get an accurate history of it and a view of what may be coming next. MHC is not nearly so transparent with their own members.

Thank you, WtH, for your persistent documentation. I wonder if that is what compelled MHC to take down all the old sermons -- the log of everything PMD said from the pulpit which becomes a reference point for what MHC once was, promises made and not kept, certainly for times when he put his foot in his mouth, but also sermons that rebuke actions MHC is taking now. He used to do amazing preaching and the preaching quality has gone way down since he abandoned the Bible and started using his own books as source material (be sure to buy your copy in the lobby).

The contrast between old Pastor Mark and new Pastor Mark is very striking -- in many cases, he is condemned by his own words. Go listen to the sermon he gave from the Luke series on Zaccheus & repentance, for example. Or perhaps the contrast is really between public Pastor Mark and private Pastor Mark? The Mark Driscoll you see on Sunday vs. the one that works with staff on weekdays.

The tone here is very different from other "watchblogs". You ascribe a lot of motivation to WtH that simply isn't there. Certainly not bitterness. WtH has been the voice in the wilderness for a long, long time with many blog posts making barely a ripple in terms of comments, but he continued. It isn't really Wenatchee's job to make it catch fire or not. This blog points out what's going on, documents it, draws connections where they exist, and lets the reader decide. It's truth. Truth that some try very hard to bury.

From a longtime reader who appreciates it and gets it.

Oh I get it, I've read this blog for a long time also, but lately it really seems like more and more of a witch hunt (not that you need to HUNT for stuff lately, but you know what I mean.) Again, this post has nothing to do with any kind of revision or anything, it's a church selling a building, not an uncommon thing at all, but because it's Mars Hill it's a blog post.

There are things that deserve to be blogged about, the plagerism, Real Marriage "marketing", staff concerns/former staff speaking out, LLCs and other things, selling a building is not one of them, unless it's because of gross financial mismanagement, which obviously isn't the issue here.
