Maundy Thursday tradition: Mahalia Jackson sings "Dark was the Night and Cold the Ground"

 Now for years I've linked to a Blind Willie Johnson recording of this lining hymn because Samuel Charters referred to it as "Dark was the Night and Cold the Ground on Which my Lord was Laid".  That would make it a Holy Saturday meditation.  

However when Mahalia Jackson sang the lining hymn the text clearly lands the hymn on Maundy Thursday with Christ praying in the Garden of Gethsemane
