Doug Wilson clarifies a bit more about why Clare Locke LLP was engaged

Dear Kirkers and Friends,

As many of you know, the elders of Christ Church decided a few months ago to engage the services of Clare Locke, a firm specializing in defamation cases. This is because the slanderous accusations being made against us were starting to spiral out of control, and we felt like we had a moral obligation to do something about it. One of the central clearinghouses of the slander that we have been dealing with was a site called Examining Doug Wilson and Moscow, and we wanted to share with you the letter that they received just today.

We are profoundly grateful to Clare Locke for their diligent work. And please be praying with us that this step will help some measure of moral sanity to return.

There is, after all, never a substitute for primary source documents. I figure readers know I'm not really a fan of Wilson's work but there's no reason for me to link to something like Protestia or even Ministry Watch if the primary source documents make things pretty clear the first time around.  If there is anything in my long history of blogging people can expect it's that if I can get ahold of primary source statements and docs I will present them.  

Don't expect this to become a new theme.  Wilson was a significant influence on early Driscoll but I've got better things to do with my time than "watchdog blog" Doug Wilson.  I will add, since I'm thinking about this stuff, is that never once did I get any notice from any legal counsel.  My methodology was to cite primary source statements and documents and while I suggested what seemed to be plausible and compelling interpretations of the significance of the information available I openly invited alternative explanations and did not present things as "X means Y and Z must have happened".  That is where too many watchdog blogs and online discernment ministries have displayed a perilous lack of discernment and, to be blunt, basic journalistic competency.  But I should probably leave things at that now that I've gotten that off my chest.

I agree that enjoining Christians be fruitful and multiply will accomplish nothing in itself to prevail in a  culture war.  I do, however, have a moment of pause about this statement.

Most people who think that conservatives can just outbreed liberals are under 40 and simply haven’t spent enough time talking to people from various walks of life.

Maybe those people who think that were just too busy reading cultural commentary written by people at The Gospel Coalition.

In all my years I have seen this perdue,

no one rants about the death of culture
