There are various reasons I've loved following the work of Atanas Ourkouzounov and one is that he welds Bulgarian folk traditions into his music. He and Mie are also masters of extended techniques for guitar and flute respectively that are not avant garde in the "high modernist" sense but are, like I just said, anchored in folk and dance elements.
