Of course your pastor is online and church is livestream. How could it be otherwise? He’s not just online with three years of livestream content at RealFaith, he’s also participating in a special one day only Fathom Events movie and excited to share the news via X (formerly known as Twitter). At least all of that is the case if your pastor is Mark Driscoll.. When he dissed livestreams as not being church he meant your church, dear pastor or priest, not his church.

 

Are you ready for The Domino Revival?  Have you never heard of it?  Neither had I until a couple of weeks ago.  So Wenatchee The Hatchet had a bit of catching up to do.

On Music Theory, and Making Music More Welcoming for Everyone

Finished the book this week and I like it.  Given the way life has been in real life for me the last year or three I am not sure how soon I'm going to get around to blogging about this book but now that I've read it I am going to say that you should not take Don Baton's word for it, you should not take John McWhorter's word for it, and you certainly shouldn't take Norman Lebrecht's word for it about whatever it is they allege Ewell has said.  Go read Ewell's book for yourself.  

It may take me a while to put together my thoughts about the book.  I've already resigned myself to the fact that my big Matiegka blogging project is going to sprawl out into 2024 and maybe even as far out as 2025 ... but just because I have been utterly lethargic (for me) at blogging does not mean I won't get to writing about this book.  I'm just at a stage in life where I need to collect thoughts more than I did in the frenzied blogging period of 2010 to 2015.  I trust readers will understand, at least the regulars. 

Ewell is totally right that McWhorter is terrible about music theory.  I gotta say at least that much before I sign off for this post.

I've been meaning to create a list like this for some time.  Another guitarist once told me that it seemed that no matter what obscure combination of instrument X with classical guitar he could name I seemed to know at least one piece written for that combination.  Well, I can hope so.
