Mark Driscoll has let it be known that the Jimmy Evans prophesy given to him on October 20, 2014 is coming true now (relying on a Jimmy Evans prophesy rather than his own predictions post-Mars Hill may have some prudence, of a kind)

Mark Driscoll has recently tweeted a clip of receiving a prophesy from Jimmy Evans on October 20, 2014.  It is not the custom of Wenatchee The Hatchet to refer to tweets but in this case when the tweet is Driscoll stating that Evans' prophesy is already coming true here in 2023 and providing a clip with a transcript, well, it's of documentary interest.

Most pivotal moment of my life. Already seeing Pastor Jimmy’s prophecy come true as we continue to reach tens of millions every year with Bible teaching.

Of course since Driscoll has blocked a few people from being able to see his tweets people who are on Twitter wouldn't be able to see the tweet.  Since Wenatchee The Hatchet personally refuses to ever use Twitter, well, folks, you can't be blocked from seeing public tweets from a public figure if you don't use the app.  So, here we go.

Transcript of statement from October 20, 2014.  You'll note that this transcript attempts to preserve the junk words and sounds that are omitted in the transcript on Driscoll's tweet that shares the clip.
I, I've got something I want to say, before I preach, to Mark Driscoll. You know, as I was sitting over there, I heard the Lord speaking [Driscoll nods] something that I want to say to you and I want to say it publicly, and that is that "You led a great movement of young people and you led them as an older brother and you'll return as a father, and it'll be a greater movement, Mark.
[Driscoll is shown getting ready to sit down] No, I'm not through yet. I'm not through. You're just STARTING to get prophesied, bud. Your scars will heal millions and the transition that you're going through in your life is very important for what God's going to do in the next season. Your latter years will be greater than your former years. Man looks on the outside, Mark,  but God looks at the heart and God sees integrity in your heart, Mark. You have a heart of integrity and you're here because of your integrity, and you're going to make it through this process because of your integrity. And God wants you to know and God wants these people to know that He has a plan for you. He has a future and a hope for you, and His plan for your future is good. God bless you.

You know (or in case you didn't) I never said I was "done" chronicling the life and times of this guy I met decades ago along with co-founders Mike Gunn and Lief Moi.

Now for those who are not up to speed on Mark Driscoll's resignation or things said about him I might suggest that, if you're here anyway, you take a look at this proposal I made a few years back on how if there is a king in the Jewish narrative literature Mark Driscoll might resemble it's Jehu.

... has become "members only access".  If you're so inclined, savor the irony of Christianity Today, that produced a podcast on Mars Hill, has coverage about Driscoll's disqualification from ministry that you can only access if you're a subscribing member.

UPDATE 3-17-2023

Maybe it's safer to rely on someone else's claim to prophesy than his own past track record for predictions. Only longtime readers would remember this post:

MALACHI: LIVING FOR A LEGACY
 WHERE IS MY HONOR?
...

Mars Hill, I am convinced, utterly convinced that we are poised for the biggest year we’ve ever had. And we’ve got some great leaders, and I’ve got a great honor today of sharing some of them with you. I want you to see who we’re talking about, and what they’re doing, and where they’re leading. We’ve pulled up their giving. They’re all giving, OK? They’re all serving, they’re all working, they’re all caring, they’re all trying. And you are helping them by giving generously and praying faithfully.

A man that convinced that 2014 will be the biggest year Mars Hill has ever had should start sending numbers to Outreach, right?

By Pastor Mark Driscoll
On September 12th, Outreach magazine will release its annual issue listing the 100 largest and fastest-growing churches in the nation. For the first time in a number of years, you won’t see Mars Hill Church listed.

... We will continue to count things at Mars Hill, such as how many people we have on Sundays, how many people are baptized every year, how many people are in Community Groups, how many elders we have to lovingly lead our people, how many people are giving financially, how many dollars we are bringing in and sending out, how many locations and services we have, etc. But, we will use that data internally for our church and not be publishing it much externally. [emphasis added]

Of course here at Wenatchee The Hatchet the little detail about how the internal numbers attested to numeric decline has been discussed at some length in this blog post over here.  Internal numbers attested to a decline and the publicly available FY2013 annual report attested to a decline in attendance and a basically nominal rise in contracted members of just sixty people, and this despite adding 1,337 members.  It may be prudent from here on out to take whatever the average attendance is in an annual report and whittle the number down by one fifth that total to account for the potential counting of children.

But maybe the "biggest year" could refer to expenses and some kind of forthcoming capital campaign that they need a Capital Development Manager for.
