Duke Ellington: Dusk

Let me revise my earlier comment.  Give me the music of Franz Joseph Haydn and Duke Ellington and if we put these two together ... that's a musical future I want to pursue.  Here is "Dusk".

Not that I'm cutting Monk out of my hoped-for synthesis, but the internet being what it is, it's as if we're stuck with dualisms of presumed opposites and I am more interested in dualities within which convergences can happen, musically speaking. The boundaries and differences between Haydn's approach to continuous variation and Ellington's approach to continuous variation don't have to be as impermeable or infinite as the jazzbros and classical snobs will probably keep telling they are.
