It will be interesting to see how many of these links become dead links inside of a week, if any.  It looks like there will be one 404 arriving shortly, if not already here.

Mark Dunford was dismissed yesterday according to King 5.

One of the pastor who signed the letter, Pastor Mark Dunford, was terminated on August 27, five days after the letter was submitted, sources tell KING 5. Dunford was an unpaid lay pastor at Mars Hill Portland.

Sources tell KING 5 the reason for his termination was "rebellion against the church."

The other pastors who signed the letter were called into a meeting Thursday with Mars Hill leadership.

If Mars Hill wants to make a case that things are different now than they were in 2007 dismissing Dunford for "rebellion against the church" is not looking any different, so far, from the terminations of Meyer and Petry.

The question that emerges in the wake of the letter of the nine is who, really, owns the corporation that is Mars Hill Church?  The elders may be civil members but if they are functionally at will employees serving at the sole discretion and authority of the executive elders then if the "at will" employment standard has been retained from the 2007 period anyone who shares anything might be out of a job or out of a ministerial role.  Meanwhile, who actually owns the corporation that is Mars Hill Church and all its associated assets and/or liabilities, is a pressing question.  What if the elders don't own Mars Hill?  If the executive elders own Mars Hill then not only would Paul Tripp's reported concerns about how the elders who are supposed to be held accountable by the BoAA controlling the information flow to the BoAA, but the elders who are supposed to be held accountable by the BoAA may just functionally own all the real estate and the LLCs and we might not be able to know for sure if any of the non-executive elders ultimately have much influence or power.
